Palmchip Corporation Offers its PalmPak SOC Development Platform via the Virtual Component Exchange
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2001--Palmchip Corp.,
a developer of configurable semiconductor IP (intellectual property)
platforms for embedded SOC (system-on-chip) integrated circuits, today
announced that its PalmPak fast SOC development platform (PALM
DP-1050) is now available on the Virtual Component Exchange (VCX).
VCX, which was formed two years ago, is the first internet-based,
regulated trading exchange floor for semiconductor IP.
``VCX provides an innovative and valuable environment for companies
such as Palmchip, that develop, license, or sell semiconductor IP,''
said Melissa Jones, vice president of marketing, Palmchip Corp. ``We
believe VCX will help increase the efficiency of IP exchange by
streamlining and simplifying the negotiation, contract and transaction
processes.''
``We're pleased to see the active participation of leading-edge IP
suppliers such as Palmchip in the VCX. There is a real value to
sellers in uploading their product offerings to our listing. Not only
can they utilize the transaction services and tools but they also make
their IP very visible and accessible to a wide variety of potential
qualified buyers,'' said Andy Travers, CEO of the VCX. ``As the VCX
continues to expand, it will become an even more valuable channel and
significantly reduce the time and effort it takes companies such as
Palmchip to complete a transaction with their customers.''
The PalmPak(TM) fast SOC development platform is an embedded SOC
design product, based upon Palmchip's CoreFrame® integration
architecture, that serves as a development vehicle for more complex
SOC devices. The platform contains all of the peripheral functions
required for a basic SOC (system-on-chip), including system and
watchdog timers, programmable I/O, and interrupt and memory
controllers. In addition, the PalmPak platform contains a
16450-compatible UART, which may be used for software debug, system
monitoring, or data upload and download.
About Palmchip
Palmchip Corp. develops and licenses configurable semiconductor IP
(intellectual property) platforms for embedded SOC (system on chip)
integrated circuits. Key target applications include networking,
portable communications and computing, storage, and multimedia. The
company offers general-purpose platforms that contain interfaces to
today's popular embedded processors. It also offers application-ready
platforms. Palmchip's IP is based on its CoreFrame® integration
architecture. This technology is independent of processor, I/O or
foundry, allowing designers flexibility in porting IP from any number
of sources. Palmchip DirectConnect(TM) partners offer a range of
third-party IP, software, and design tools that are compatible with
the CoreFrame® architecture. Palmchip was established in 1996 and is
today a privately held company based in San Jose, Calif. (USA). It is
a member of the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance and VCX. More

About VCX
The Virtual Component Exchange (VCX) is a unique
business-to-business (B2B), e-commerce organization. It has created
the first structured exchange for trading Semiconductor Intellectual
Property (SIP) located at www.thevcx.com. The e-commerce VCX
TradeFloor together with the VCX TransactionWare(TM) toolset links the
engineering, procurement and legal functions of both buyers and
sellers with a common toolset and language. This ultimately
accelerates completed transactions between buyers and sellers so the
VCX fulfills their common business imperative of getting more products
to market in shorter time cycles. Visit the web site at
